Alone in the Dark

Its a horror survival type game in the resi evil mold

In fact it looks like quite a few familiar titles but it has one special feature

The controls and camera angles were programmed by a syphillytic goat

Seriously why bother going to all the trouble of creating atmosphere and suspense if you are then intent on crippling your game with the most awful mashup of 1st and 3rd person views and controls that make Kinect games look good

Story fine

Graphics fine

Ach points medium but doable

Soundbytes fucking annoying especially the whining bint

Controls total cuntery

Camera Angles as rancid as a Welsh Rarebit made of cock cheese and soda bread

4/10

My one memory of this was playing the demo, and aside from fighting the god awful controls, opening my inventory flasher style, only to be killed while trying to tape something to something else. Needless to say, it didn't sell me. What utter balls.

I bought this when Big E ran the whoring competition, but I only played through it a couple of months ago. I was really gutted at the end because there were certain features I really liked and there are some really good ideas that haven't been repeated and would make for a really good game given a decent control scheme. A sequel done well might make for a good experience. It really is one of those games where getting through a doorway can be as difficult as getting the "Mile High Club" cheev in COD4!!!

I'm glad I played it though as it's quite unique and there's an easy 1k up for grabs. Don't bother with the story though as you'll only end up disappointed with the endings which are as pointless as a dutch mountain rescue team.

I think this is all that really needs to be said. I rented this a while back and managed to play it for about an hour before deciding it wasn't worth the effort. I hated every second of it, I'm pretty sure I sent it back the same day it arrived. Awful game.

Having battled on further I now see that my initial 4/10 score is too generous

This could have been one of the best releases for the 360 if they had just paid some attention to the controls/camera

The recount in a 'previous on 24' stylee when you reload is brilliant. The atmospjere between levels is brilliant. Some of the concepts and story is also great. But you cannot enjoy it because of the interface

Shame but it really should only be a 2/10

Just noticed that there is a collectible sort of ach too in as much as you have to find all the roots, and then a combining everything with everything else ach in a Dead Rising style. Those are going to make this 1000 much harder

The roots are always marked on the map as you progress big E. This makes it a lot easier, but about 3 or 4 of them require some thought to figure out how to destroy them. Combining all items can pretty much be done in one location too so it's not too daunting.
