Minecraft xbox one out Friday

Microsoft has confirmed the release date for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition as this Friday, September 5.

The first new-gen console port of the game will be available for download on the Xbox One's digital store for £15.99 / $19.99.
Current owners of the Xbox 360 version of the game will be able to upgrade to the Xbox One version for a reduced price of £2.99 / $4.99.

All downloadable content purchased on the Xbox 360 version can be downloaded again for free on Xbox One, and all Xbox 360 worlds and content can be transferred to the new-gen version so players won't lose their creations.

Microsoft states that the Xbox One version of Minecraft allows for worlds up to 36 times larger than the Xbox 360 version.

Friday's release will be digital only, with players able to buy the game with a credit card or with a prepaid Xbox Gift Card.

Later this month, digital download codes for the game will be sold at selected game retailers, then a full packaged version of the game will be available to buy during the holiday season.

Wouldn't have bothered with this but when I first heard about the cheap upgrade price I was sold. They have said that most DLC will be copied across but there might be issue with some of the licensed stuff, so probably things like Skyrim dlc pack or something. It's all just cosmetic anyway so won't affect the game.

Looking forward to maxing this out for 1000G and should be really easy unless you can't unlock achievements from your imported maps, which is a possibility. Actually should be easy anyway to be honest as there's nothing in the game too difficult even if you have to do it from scratch.

I wasn't initially interested, but given that those who bought it previously are getting a cheap upgrade it's be rude not to take them up on their offer! I too am up for some Minecraft nights.

Does anyone know what time the Xbone marketplace gets updated? As I'm off work Friday I might get in there nice & early

I might upgrade since i bought it on the 360 but never maxxed it. Would be good to join in a couple of Minecraft nights after my holidays though.

I'll probably upgrade mine as I have it. Although I'll be distracted by Sims 4 and then Destiny so doubt I'll play it for awhile.

Bought it this morning and knocked out 14 achievements in a half hour before work. Did n't figure out how to transfer my saves yet. I assume I have to save them to the cloud or something or maybe to a USB stick. So will be figuring that out when I get home.

Did we get confirmation that the maps are going to be stored on seperate servers rather than on people's consoles so that they cna be accessed by anyone if they have permission?

That would be a later addition I'd imagine. The 360 worlds don't auto expand that you transfer at the moment. Also if you want the option to quit your game without saving then you need to disable the autosave function. I initially though they'd removed it but seems it's just disabled when autosave is on.

Do I need my original XBOX 360 disc to download the new game at discount price?

I've transferred three of my survival worlds across from the 360 including the one I have a big track on for the on the rail achievement. Also by getting said achievement I can confirm that yes you can use your 360 maps to unlock achievements. I've done loads of them but I'm not in a major rush to Max it as it's nice to have the achievements there to give yourself a goal if you're getting bored like a giant quest to kill the Ender Dragon. If anyone on here sees me on this at any point feel free to invade my world no invite required.

Downloaded this again after not really playing it much on 360 it does seem fun though quite a relaxing game for when you aren't in the mood for anything too hectic
