Xbox One to Get DVR for TV

Post  stevewithak on Thu May 07, 2015 9:05 am

Hey, remember when the Xbox One was heralded as an all-in-one entertainment system? It didn't just do games, it did EVERYTHING! Or, more specifically, TV. Thanks Don Mattrick (whose passing we all mourn).

Microsoft hasn't exactly abandoned that dream of an entertainment hub - although they have scaled back all the chatter about it. And that's set to continue with news that the Xbox One will be getting DVR capabilities. This, for the unititiated, is the spangly digital version of a VCR, allowing gamers to record live TV.

No news on precisely when the update will drop, but insiders reckon it'll be later this year.

Useless and absolutely irrelevant to gaming (The X1 feature not your post lol) Sky/Virgin boxes have been doing this for years and more people have them than X1 s

I'd imagine that this will be part of the Windows 10 update, would probably be a feature that the people who use the TV side of the Xbox One would use.

This is a good addition.

I will use it in my bedroom as don't have a DVR in there already.

Plus its good if you are already recording 2 items on sky at the same time.

At the moment in game dvr is limited to 5mins I'm assuming this will be expanded once the update arrive for tv but will it also be expanded for game dvr I think that would be a welcome change.
