Re: DO NOT BUY RYSE for £50 you nutter!
the early bird catches the worm - where "bird" equals "digital content strategy" and "worm" equals "release day purchasing frenzy". Ryse: Son of Rome already has DLC in the form of the Praetorian and Damocles Gladiator skins, which cost £3.19 each and weigh in at 7.51 MB. Tempted?
As revealed by Eurogamer, the digital edition of the game will cost you £44.99. There's also an in-game currency, gold, split up into the following denominations:
1000 / £0.79
2000 / £1.59
3000 / £2.39
5500 / £3.99
11,500 / £7.99
25,000 / £15.99
If you'd rather not pay for the privilege, gold can also be earned in the multiplayer, which sees players battling hordes of AI gladiators. What will you spend it on? Booster Packs, which compare to the randomised packs from Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. "Those booster packs contain random sets of loot," a producer explained over the summer.
"Based on the different tiers of loot that you get - whether you buy Bronze, Silver or Gold Packs - guarantees whether you get rare or common items."
The game's Season Pass, finally, costs £15.99 and fills up 7.51 MB.

I smell a micropayment fest for m$ next gen
I hope this does not take root
With the move to downloaded titles we are gonna lose the discount buys that physical media generate, but to then be targeted in an Apple store penny pinching storm will be a real pita

I can understand micro transactions in a free or 99p ipad game, in a £50 console title it's a proper shitbag move, especially in a day one launch title where they know people will have had to pay for the console as well, hopefully nobody touches these and Microsoft gets a shit load of bad press

Those of you that have bought or played Ryse. Is it any good?
I've seen it on Games website preowned for £20 and am thinking of picking it up if i can find a copy.

I've played it and just finished the campaign at the weekend. I didn't think it was that bad. I quite enjoyed the hacking and slashing barbarians.

I too have just finished campaign. Visually, its the most stunning game i have ever played and i did enjoy it, but the combat system is shallow and it gets very repetitive. I am still enjoying playing with the online though. I'll lend it you Trick, then you can try it out and decide for yourself whether you want to take the next step and but it.
Being a God Of War fan, it makes me think about the potential the game has for a sequel with a more involved combat system and more epic set pieces.

Re: DO NOT BUY RYSE for £50 you nutter!
It's currently on sale on Xbox one as part of the games with gold deal. Bad news about a sequel though, I was reading an article today saying Crytek are close to bankruptcy and Ryse 2 has already been canned

Cheers guys. If i see it cheap i might pick it up. Would rather have a hard copy, so i can at least sell or trade it when i'm finished.
