GameFAQS and help with games

I must admit until recently I usually relied on X360A or TA for help with my games, but I've found myself slowly drifting back to my old haunt of GameFAQS as the best source for help with games. They just seem to have a better team of people working on games there and its actually quicker and easier to find the info I need as the walkthroughs are that little bit more detailed as its all text with no poxy video walkthroughs included. So what do other people tend to use for their gaming conundrums

I find the IGN wiki guides to be pretty useful although gamefaqs is also very good

I rely on my skill as an uber gamer

once that fails any of the main help areas does for me

I steer clear of trueach stuff but the rest is fine

I'll be honest my usual game plan is crack a game and then go back and use a guide for collectibles and the like. I just hate video guides as they rely on the images rather than actually explain. Plus I'm old enough to remember when all walkthroughs were either written or hastily photoshopped screen grabs creating huge maps!!

And I never really went away, I've just moved into a new place and while my laptop has no problem conneccting, my Xbox cant seem to connect to live except once ina blue moon!!

I used to go on GameFAQs all the time back in the day, maybe during the PS2/GameCube sort of era. It was my one-stop for gaming guides. I can't stand the site now, I find it much more awkward to navigate and anything I've looked up the last few times I've tried it out just didn't have guides for what I wanted.

When I play a 360 game, I usually check out x360a's guide and roadmap just to see if there's any dickhead business ahead, while trying not to read too much incase there's any spoilers. Then I will usually play the game through having made a mental note of any stupid missables, and after that it's a case of seeing which achievements I end up getting.

When I play PS3 I just go for it without caring about the trophies. I recently played God of War (the first one) and on the few occasions I got stuck and couldn't be arsed to sit and work it out, I just Googled the answer and got the solution from whichever site came up first. Worked for me!
